You Win

Standard

You won’t always feel it, heaven knows there are days when you feel the exact opposite. When things feel so stacked against you it seems all is lost, forever. However….

Perspective is a powerful thing. When you think of the probability of any of us being alive here at all, were all winners. What a beautiful world, what an amazing thing life is, how strange and wonderful it is to be here!

We all forget sometimes so here’s a gentle reminder. Your doing Great!

Consciousness and Bliss

Standard

“At the still point of the turning world. Neither flesh nor fleshless;
Neither from nor towards; at the still point, there the dance is,
But neither arrest nor movement. And do not call it fixity,
Where past and future are gathered. Neither movement from nor towards,
Neither ascent nor decline. Except for the point, the still point,
There would be no dance, and there is only the dance.”
~ T.S. Eliot, The Four Quartets

WHAT LIVES IN US

Standard

“If you put your hands on this oar with me, they would no longer

lift anything to your
mouth that might wound your precious land-
that sacred earth that is your body.

If you put your soul against this oar with me,
the power that made the universe will enter your sinew
from a source not outside your limbs, but from a holy realm
that lives in us.”

~ RUMI

Scientific research into how yoga helps us live well is a fascinating subject but for those of us who already know it from the inside, poetry says it best.

Yoga primarily is a sacred practise, we use the body through the asanas to worship life itself flowing through us in every breath.

In beauty

Whatever it is your doing right now, do it in beauty where you can.

Eagle Poem

To pray you open your whole self
To sky, to earth, to sun, to moon
To one whole voice that is you.
And know there is more
That you can’t see, can’t hear;
Can’t know except in moments
Steadily growing, and in languages
That aren’t always sound but other
Circles of motion.
Like eagle that Sunday morning
Over Salt River. Circled in blue sky
In wind, swept our hearts clean
With sacred wings.
We see you, see ourselves and know
That we must take the utmost care
And kindness in all things.
Breathe in, knowing we are made of
All this, and breathe, knowing
We are truly blessed because we
Were born, and die soon within a
True circle of motion,
Like eagle rounding out the morning
Inside us.
We pray that it will be done
In beauty.
In beauty.

Song

Standard

I am what they did not tell me and I knew.
Oh, I wanted everything to be mine!
I am everything I have already lost.
But everything’s elusive like the wind and the river,
like the golden summer flowers
that die in your hands.
I am everything, but nothing, nothing is mine,
not the pain, nor the joy, nor the terror,
not even the words of my song.
